Intel says its Fab 28 plant in Kiryat Gat, Israel, will be shut down for about two weeks after an explosion on Oct. 14, 2026. Two workers were killed<\/strong>, a third was seriously injured, and the company now expects the disruption to knock roughly $600 million off revenue.<\/p>\n

According to Intel, that hit will be split almost evenly between Q4 2026 and Q1 2027<\/strong>, and it will trim Q4 non-GAAP gross margin by about 2 percentage points. Fab 28 is one of Intel\u2019s key Intel 7 sites, so this likely means more pressure on Xeon server processors and the Intel 7 I\/O dies used in Xeon 6. That\u2019s on top of supply that was already tight, China lead times that market reports have pegged at up to six months, and not many easy fallback options. Some reports have linked the blast to a nitrogen-trifluoride gas-cylinder malfunction, though Intel hasn\u2019t officially confirmed that.<\/p>\n\n

If you depend on Xeon supply, keep an eye on this. Intel says production should start coming back<\/a><\/strong> by the end of the week, but there\u2019s still a lot the company hasn\u2019t said: how many wafers were damaged, which lines were hit hardest, when full output will be back, or whether other fabs can make up the difference given tool, qualification, and capacity limits.<\/p>\n\n
