The series is in development with Krafton. Stephen Glover will write and executive produce alongside production partners LV3H, Gilga, and NEON TV. The executive producer lineup also includes Michael Schaefer, Fam Udeorji, Taeseok Jang, and Sujin Lee.

Since Krafton released PUBG: Battlegrounds in 2017, most people have known it as the 100-player battle royale where players drop onto a map, scavenge for gear, fight, and try to stay alive as the play zone closes in. That kind of name recognition helps, but it brings an obvious problem with it too: PUBG: Battlegrounds doesn’t have a clearly defined plot, even with the extra lore Krafton has built around Erangel and characters like Sergei Kalimnik.

Still, that may end up helping the series. A fixed campaign isn’t tied to a fixed campaign or a single hero, and if you’ve kept up with Netflix’s game adaptations or with Donald Glover’s work on Atlanta, Community, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith, this one has a reason to draw attention. It also lines up with Netflix’s broader Assassin’s Creed and Gears of War push, Krafton’s efforts to expand beyond games, and comes after the animated PUBG project announced in 2021, which now seems to have gone quiet.

For now, you’ll have to wait for Netflix to say more. There’s still no release date, no production start, no plot summary, no additional cast members, and no confirmed tone.
