Michael Bay’s 2022 action thriller Ambulance left Netflix this month. The most likely reason is pretty straightforward: the end of an early-November licensing window, which is usually how third-party studio movies move on and off the service.

So if you were planning to revisit Ambulance, don’t read this as the movie disappearing for good. It’s more of a streaming reshuffle. Bay’s 2022 remake of the 2005 Danish film follows adoptive brothers played by Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, whose bank robbery spins out into the hijacking of an ambulance carrying Eiza González’s paramedic.

The movie didn’t exactly break out at the box office. Box Office Mojo has Ambulance at $52.3 million worldwide on a budget of roughly $40 million, which put it below a $75 million break-even point. Even so, plenty of critics saw it as one of Michael Bay’s strongest films in years.

Netflix has also been a solid home for Bay titles. Earlier this year, the Bay-produced TNT drama The Last Ship, led by Eric Dane and originally airing from 2014 to 2018, turned into one of the platform’s most-watched titles on Netflix’s public charts.

For now, Ambulance is still Michael Bay’s last directed feature. Trade reports have connected him to Skibidi Toilet, and he’s also reportedly in talks to return to Transformers with Steven Spielberg producing, after previously leaving Netflix’s Fast and Loose with Will Smith over creative differences.

You can still rent or buy Ambulance on Prime Video and Apple TV.
