Foundation, Apple TV+’s take on Isaac Asimov’s sci-fi saga, is coming back for Season 3 in July 2025, and the turnaround is a little faster than a lot of fans probably expected.

This time, the story picks up 152 years after Season 2. The Mule is finally stepping into center stage as a serious danger to both the Empire and the Foundations. Jared Harris, Lee Pace, Lou Llobell, and Laura Birn are all returning, and they’ll be joined by book characters Bayta Darell, Toran Darell, and Ebling Mis.

Getting there wasn’t exactly smooth. Production ran into delays in early 2024 after filming in Prague and Poland was disrupted by what reports called budgeting and physical production problems. Around the same time, co-creator David S. Goyer pulled back from on-set showrunning duties in Prague, though he stayed involved on the creative side.

If you’ve stuck with Foundation for the palace scheming, large-scale space conflict, and the kind of science fiction that likes to wrestle with big ideas, Season 3 looks like a return worth watching. The franchise also isn’t going quiet elsewhere. Foundation: Galactic Frontier is still active, with its Q4 roadmap adding Guild Ruins, a Tower Defense event, a cross-server Premier Arena Tournament, Guild Duel: War Prism 2.0, selected fragment item exchange, and two new Beam Champions.

Season 3 lands on Apple TV+ in July 2025. Foundation: Galactic Frontier is already out as a free-to-play MMO strategy RPG and space sim on mobile and PC, with microtransactions.
