DC Comics has released Deathstroke: The Terminator #8, and the issue lands two major reveals<\/strong> at once: Ray Palmer, the Atom, turns out to be Slade Wilson’s secret ally, and the book starts sliding into much stranger Green Lantern territory<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Slade Wilson is at his absolute lowest here. He’s broke, disgraced, hunted<\/strong>, Wintergreen is dead, and Adeline Kane is now running his old operation under the Deathstroke name. The issue opens with Slade obsessively going after a man who cut in front of him at a gas station, which tells you pretty quickly that sparing Adeline Kane wasn’t the start of any redemption arc.<\/p>\n\n

Then the bigger twist hits. After Slade Wilson kills the man, there’s a dead or imprisoned Green Lantern in the trunk, most likely Vath Sarn of sector 2682<\/strong>. Ray Palmer’s role in all of this doesn’t seem voluntary either, since Slade Wilson can expose Ray Palmer’s connection to the Justice League.<\/p>\n\n

That also fits with Ray Palmer’s recent unease over the Justice League’s amnesty push, possible Omega Energy influence, and the Dreamer mission.<\/p>\n\n

If you’d like to see Deathstroke pulled away from the usual superhero brawls, this issue is worth picking up. Tony Fleecs and Carmine Di Giandomenico are leaning hard into assassin noir<\/strong>, and they’re also setting up what could be a Green Lantern Corps clash tied to a galactic drug cartel.<\/p>\n\n
