The iPhone X got rid of the Home button and replaced Touch ID with the TrueDepth camera system<\/strong>. It projected around 30,000 invisible dots to build a facial depth map for unlocking the phone, making payments, signing into apps, and powering Animoji<\/a>, with the A11 Bionic chip doing the heavy lifting.<\/p>\n\n

Starting at $999<\/strong>, the iPhone X reset expectations for flagship pricing. It became the world\u2019s best-selling smartphone in Q1 2018 with about 16 million units shipped, reached roughly 63 million by the end of August, and pushed rival phone makers to copy its all-screen design, while Apple later turned the cutout into Dynamic Island<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n
