Clockwork Revolution<\/a> is now targeting a 2027 release<\/strong> on Xbox Series X|S and PC. That timing drops it right into the BioShock<\/a> gap, with BioShock 4 still sitting there without a release date, gameplay footage, or much of an update at all, even though it\u2019s been more than 13 years since BioShock Infinite and 2K announced BioShock 4 back in 2019.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s set in Avalon, where you play as Morgan Vanette and start uncovering how Lady Ironwood bent history to hold onto power<\/strong>. The BioShock comparisons are easy enough to see, but the game doesn\u2019t sound like a straight copy. Automatons, clockwork tech, class conflict, time travel, branching dialogue, character creation, RPG systems, and what the developers are calling \u201cvisual reactivity\u201d push it in a bigger direction.<\/p>\n\n

BioShock 4, meanwhile, hasn\u2019t exactly inspired confidence. Reports in 2025 said the project failed an internal story review, which led to a narrative overhaul, leadership changes at Cloud Chamber, layoffs affecting more than 80 employees<\/strong>, and yet another delay. Strauss Zelnick reportedly said he was disappointed by the timeline, though also more confident after the shake-up.<\/p>\n\n

If you\u2019re still waiting on BioShock 4, Clockwork Revolution looks like one to watch. So does Welcome to Brightville<\/a>, a 2027 immersive sim for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S with a \u201cmana-punk\u201d label, an automaton lead, magic-based combat, and a steampunk-cyberpunk-musical style that\u2019s getting similar comparisons. Still, going by trailers and interviews alone, neither Clockwork Revolution nor Welcome to Brightville is some official BioShock replacement<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n
