The WebKit-based browser now has to overcome Google Chrome&#8217;s domination on Android devices.<\/p>\n<p>Opera for Android was first shown off at <a title=\"MWC 2013: Opera to release new browser for Android\" href=\"http:\/\/news.en.softonic.com\/mwc-2013-opera-to-release-new-browser-for-android\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mobile World Congress<\/a> back in February. The browser is completely different from Opera&#8217;s previous Android browser, <a title=\"opera mini\" href=\"http:\/\/opera-mini.en.softonic.com\/android\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Opera Mini<\/a>. While Opera Mini felt like a stripped-down version of a browser, Opera for Android feels like a complete, full-featured browser that can contend with Chrome. One similarity between the two Opera browser is their ability to compress web pages, speeding up the browser speed while minimizing data use. This is handy for users who have restrictive data caps.<\/p>\n<p>Opera made a dramatic move abandoning its Presto framework in favor of the WebKit engine. Now the company has come out and said it would support <a title=\"Google Chrome to use modified version of WebKit rendering engine called 'Blink'\" href=\"onsoftware.en.softonic.com\/google-chrome-to-use-modified-version-of-webkit-rendering-engine-called-blink\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Google&#8217;s fork of WebKit named &#8220;Blink&#8221;<\/a> when it becomes available.
