{"id":48234,"date":"2013-08-22T10:46:56","date_gmt":"2013-08-22T08:46:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/onsoftware.en.softonic.com\/?p=48234"},"modified":"2025-07-02T01:13:51","modified_gmt":"2025-07-02T08:13:51","slug":"crytek-announce-the-next-gen-cryengine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms-articles.softonic.io\/en\/crytek-announce-the-next-gen-cryengine\/","title":{"rendered":"Crytek announces the next-gen CRYENGINE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Crytek<\/strong>, the developer behind the <a href=\"http:\/\/crysis.en.softonic.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Crysis<\/strong><\/a> series, has announced a new version of its game engine <strong>CRYENGINE<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CRYENGINE 3<\/strong> came out in 2009, and was used for <a href=\"http:\/\/crysis-2-be-the-weapon.en.softonic.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Crysis 2<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/crysis-3.en.softonic.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>3<\/strong><\/a>, perhaps the best looking first person shooters of this generation. For the latest version, Crytek is dropping version numbers altogether, calling it simply CRYENGINE.<\/p>\n<p>Explaining why there are no more version numbers, Crytek&#8217;s Areil Cai said,<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>supplying an engine is not about delivering a static piece of software\u2026it&#8217;s about providing the latest, greatest technology we can, all the time.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>CRYENGINE will be constantly updated, so it&#8217;s &#8216;always new&#8217;.
