The company has hit is goal of rolling out a RTM (release to manufacturing) release by August and it barely made it with six days left in the month.<\/p>\n<p>The Windows 8.1 upgrade will be free to all existing <a title=\"Windows 8\" href=\"http:\/\/features.en.softonic.com\/t\/windows-8-guide\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Windows 8<\/a> users and will be available to download from the Windows Store on <a title=\"Windows 8.1 launch date confirmed for October 17th\" href=\"http:\/\/news.en.softonic.com\/windows-8-1-launch-date-confirmed-for-october-17th\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">October 17th<\/a>. The updates to the operating system are pretty minor but will help make Windows 8 feel like a more polished product.
