Ever since Google I\/O 2013<\/a>, users have been curious as to when the next version of Android<\/a> will debut. Google took a much different approach during this year’s Google I\/O developers conference by updating all of the company’s core apps instead of releasing an all new version of Android.<\/p>\n

    There were plenty of rumors of Android 5.0<\/a>, code named “keylime pie” but today Google confirmed that the next version of Android will be version 4.4, code named “KitKat.” There is little information listed on the teaser site that Google created for Android KitKat, but the company does claim that over 1 billion Android devices have been activated. The teaser site walks through the evolutionary milestones of the Android operating system.<\/p>\n

    Since the next version of Android is only a point release and not a jump to version 5, Google could be continuing its defragmentation of Android by offering it’s killer apps and features as modular parts instead of being bundled into the operating system. Android 4.3<\/a> saw the introduction of a more powerful Google Play Services framework, which most Google apps rely on, allowing the company to push updates to phones that are running versions of Android as old as 2.2.<\/p>\n

    UPDATE<\/strong>: KitKat has released a parody video of the company embracing Android 4.4 KitKat. The iconic chocolate bar is talked about and displayed in an Apple-esque promo video calling upon the virtues of selectable sizes. Check it out below.<\/p>\n
