Google’s digital wallet app, Google Wallet<\/a>, has been updated to support Android<\/a> devices running version 2.3 or later. Previously, Google Wallet only worked on a handful of phones that had Near Field Communication built in. With this update, Google is offering its wallet service to most Android users, without the need for NFC.<\/p>\n

The new app is more than just a digital wallet, but serves as a place for all your loyalty cards, local deals, and gives users the ability to send friends and family money from the app. Wallet has evolved into more than just an app to pay for things since it integrates local deals. It also offers a history of purchases, including ones from the Google Play Store so you can track all of your Android app purchases from Wallet.<\/p>\n

The great thing about sending money with Google Wallet is that recipients aren’t required to have a Gmail<\/a> address; any email will work.\u00a0Google introduced sending friends money using Gmail<\/a> a few months back and now the feature has made it into Google Wallet for Android as well. The same fees apply for using credit cards to send money (2.9%), similar to PayPal<\/a>‘s pricing structure. Sending money directly from your checking account will not have any fees.<\/p>\n
