That&#8217;s because in addition to <strong>checking compatibility<\/strong> of a device, the Google store also <strong>automatically synchronizes your phone<\/strong> so that you can download and install new applications.<\/p>\n<p>It turns out that there&#8217;s a limit to the number of devices that can be added to your Google account.  If you&#8217;ve got multiple devices, this can become a bit of a problem. In some cases, it can even make downloading an application a big headache.<\/p>\n<p>But there&#8217;s a solution, and in this article, we&#8217;ll show you what to do.<\/p>\n<h3>Removing a device<\/h3>\n<p>Start by logging into the <a title=\"Google Play Store\" href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Google Play<\/a> site. Then click the gear symbol in the upper right hand corner and choose &#8220;<strong>Settings<\/strong>&#8220;:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-55156\" title=\"Access Settings via the gear icon\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2013\/11\/1-568x110.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"568\" height=\"110\" srcset=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2013\/11\/1-568x110.png 568w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2013\/11\/1-256x49.png 256w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2013\/11\/1.png 969w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 568px) 100vw, 568px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The next screen will display <strong>all devices currently added to your account<\/strong>. Look for the &#8220;<strong>Visibility<\/strong>&#8221; column and when you spot the device you want to remove, simply uncheck the box labeled &#8220;<strong>Show in menu<\/strong>&#8220;:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-55157\" title=\"Uncheck this option to remove from list\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2013\/11\/2-568x178.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"568\" height=\"178\" srcset=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2013\/11\/2-568x178.png 568w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2013\/11\/2-256x80.png 256w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2013\/11\/2.png 1025w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 568px) 100vw, 568px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After a few seconds, the device will no longer appear in your account. This will mean that you can <strong>only download applications to the devices that appear<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Renaming a device<\/h3>\n<p>Note that on the same screen, in the right-hand column, you&#8217;ll see &#8220;<strong>Edit<\/strong>&#8221; buttons.
