The end of 2013 was marked by the launch of new consoles and the arrival of successful franchises. The New Year, on the other hand, offers\u00a0more modest releases<\/strong> that take advantage of the post-holiday financial slump, gaining a foothold with users\u00a0with sagas that are set to return\u00a0with reissues<\/strong> that are\u00a0more complete or offered on different platforms.<\/p>\n

The Banner Saga: Chapter 1 \u2013 PC (14.01)<\/h3>\n

Chapter 1<\/strong> is the start of a new franchise entitled\u00a0The Banner Saga<\/em>, which is focused on\u00a0tactical role-playing and was developed by Stoic, an indie company formed by BioWare (Mass Effect<\/a>). The game, which will be free, has been\u00a0created thanks to a successful campaign on Kickstarter<\/a><\/strong>, a\u00a0crowd-funding platform.<\/p>\n

The Banner Saga: Chapter 1 consists of a single player campaign<\/strong>. There will be other chapters for single players, as well as another installment of the franchise in just over a month. The Banner Saga: Factions\u00a0will be\u00a0a multiplayer turn-based combat game.<\/p>\n

Assassin\u2019s Creed Liberation HD – PC, Xbox 360, PS3 (15.01)<\/h3>\n

Liberation was the “lost” installment of Assassin’s Creed, which only appeared on the PS Vita. Taking advantage of Assassin’s Creed IV<\/a>, Ubisoft is now about to launch a version of the game for consoles and PC,\u00a0with the obligatory HD face lift.<\/p>\n

This time, and for\u00a0the first time in the franchise, the protagonist is a woman named Aveline. <\/strong>The\u00a0daughter of a white man and a freed black woman, she has to balance her life as a\u00a0young\u00a0wealthy woman with the role of an\u00a0assassin\u00a0in order to liberate\u00a0slaves while revisiting\u00a0her past.<\/p>\n

Phineas and Ferb: Quest for Cool Stuff \u2013 Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360 (18.01)<\/h3>\n

Two of the most beloved children’s\u00a0characters are returning to our consoles. This time, they must collect items for the Museum of Cool while their colleague, Perry,<\/strong> tries to stop Dr. Doofenshmirtz, who once again is trying to\u00a0take over the tri-state\u00a0area.<\/p>\n

These two adventures \u2013 that of\u00a0Phineas and Ferb, and that of Perry \u2013\u00a0will be two separate game modes: <\/strong>they\u00a0complement each other\u00a0by offering\u00a0the possibility to\u00a0create\u00a0and maintain\u00a0vehicles.<\/p>\n

Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z – PS3, Xbox 360 (24.01)<\/h3>\n

Dragon Ball Z<\/strong> has\u00a0had another resurgence in popularity thanks to\u00a0the premiere of the movie Battle of the Gods<\/strong>. This is why Namco Bandai have, until now, refused\u00a0to release a game that includes\u00a0a feature that Goku fans have been demanding for years: a system for cooperative combat, which in this case allows\u00a0four players per side<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Will this addition be enough to reverse the fortunes of\u00a0a\u00a0video game\u00a0saga that’s been\u00a0going downhill<\/strong> with each new installment? Hopefully, although the absence of a story mode\u00a0and the rather inaccurate graphics do make you\u00a0fear the worst.<\/p>\n

Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Full Burst – PS3, Xbox 360 (31.01)<\/h3>\n

Another manga hero that’s making a return\u00a0is the ninja Naruto. Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Full Burst<\/strong> (which was launched back in October for PC<\/a>) is a hyper-adaptable version of Ultimate Ninja Storm 3, a\u00a0game that appeared in March 2013.<\/p>\n

This Full Burst version\u00a0has all the DLC content<\/strong> so that the game can be updated with\u00a0a new battle, new playable\u00a0characters and some graphics improvements.<\/p>\n

\"Naruto<\/p>\n

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition \u2013 PS4, Xbox One (31.01)<\/h3>\n

Another game that already hit stores in 2013 but is now out in a\u00a0new edition is Tomb Raider<\/strong>. In this case, it’s taking advantage of the success of the versions for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 Crystal Dynamics to bring\u00a0us the adventures of Lara Croft on\u00a0the new\u00a0Xbox One and PS4 consoles.<\/p>\n

But are better graphics and a 1080p resolution enough for users to turn around\u00a0and buy a game that was already just released?<\/p>\n

A quiet month<\/h3>\n

January is clearly a much quieter month as far as releases go, but we’re expecting big things\u00a0in the coming months with games\u00a0that are likely\u00a0to take over our PC\u00a0and consoles. Until then, a\u00a0lack of funds and some new, smaller titles\u00a0will have to hold us over.<\/p>\n
