Here, we&#8217;re going to track down <strong>some lost gems.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--[\/lead]--><\/p>\n<p><!--[body]--><\/p>\n<p>2013 was a year of great games that enjoyed resounding success both with audiences and in terms of sales. But what about all those great titles that, for one reason or another, have gone unnoticed? We didn&#8217;t want all that talent to be forgotten, so we&#8217;ve made a list of 10 great games from the past year. We&#8217;ve included a good variety of genres, so if you haven&#8217;t tried any yet, one of them is sure to be worth a try.<\/p>\n<div class=\"listapp\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-58156\" title=\"The Stanley Parable\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2014\/01\/TheStanleyParable.jpg\" alt=\"The Stanley Parable\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>The Stanley Parable (PC)<\/h3>\n<p>Let&#8217;s start with an <em><strong>indie<\/strong><\/em> offering, as 2013 has been a particularly good year for indie games. The most talked about surprise has been side-project <a title=\"Download The Stanley Parable\" href=\"http:\/\/the-stanley-parable.en.softonic.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Stanley Parable<\/a>, which started out as a mod for <a title=\"Download Half-Life 2\" href=\"http:\/\/the-stanley-parable.en.softonic.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Half-Life 2<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the game, we accompany good old Stanley in an interesting walk through his office. The approach may seem boring, but it&#8217;s a difficult story to explain. I suggest playing it to see for yourself. We liked it so much at Softonic that we even <a title=\"The Stanley Parable: Softonic\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=DVGBQt_gD8w\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tried our hand at a remake<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"height: 319px;width: 568px\" title=\"The Stanley Parable\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-images.sftcdn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2013\/12\/The-Stanley-Parable-568x319.jpg\" alt=\"The Stanley Parable\" width=\"568\" height=\"319\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"listapp\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/screenshots.en.sftcdn.net\/en\/scrn\/69670000\/69670843\/rogue-legacy-01-100x100.png?key=api\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Rogue Legacy<\/h3>\n<p>If the thieving genre isn&#8217;t new, then neither is the &#8220;rogue&#8221; game (where you explore a space that&#8217;s generated randomly, playing a hero who has to fight their enemies while improving their skills). <a title=\"Download Rogue Legacy\" href=\"http:\/\/rogue-legacy.en.softonic.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rogue Legacy<\/a>, however, adds another twist, thanks to its original features including the fact that each new hero is a descendant of the former and inherits his skills and bungling characteristics.<\/p>\n<p>This, along with charming graphics and super controls, makes it a &#8220;rogue&#8221; game that comes highly recommended and one that <strong>doesn&#8217;t need to be jealous of<\/strong> big budget offerings in the slightest.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"height: 319px;width: 568px\" title=\"Rogue Legacy\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-images.sftcdn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2013\/12\/Rogue-Legacy-568x319.jpg\" alt=\"Rogue Legacy\" width=\"568\" height=\"319\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"listapp\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/screenshots.en.sftcdn.net\/en\/scrn\/69659000\/69659261\/monaco-07-100x100.png?key=api\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Monaco (PC)<\/h3>\n<p>This year, there were two interesting games that let us follow in the footsteps of thieves:\u00a0<a title=\"Download Payday 2\" href=\"http:\/\/payday-2.en.softonic.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Payday 2<\/a> and <a title=\"Purchase GTA V\" href=\"http:\/\/gta-v.en.softonic.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">GTA V<\/a>. Only two? Not exactly, but another we should add to the mix is\u00a0<a title=\"Download Monaco\" href=\"http:\/\/monaco.en.softonic.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Monaco<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>This game has a small budget with big ideas. It&#8217;s got all the typical gameplay you&#8217;d expect \u2013 <strong>stealth, infiltration and theft <\/strong>\u2013 but it&#8217;s got a strong personality and some very fresh ideas to add to the genre.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"height: 319px;width: 568px\" title=\"Monaco \" src=\"https:\/\/articles-images.sftcdn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2013\/12\/Monaco-568x319.png\" alt=\"Monaco \" width=\"568\" height=\"319\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"listapp\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/screenshots.en.sftcdn.net\/en\/scrn\/69665000\/69665717\/the-swapper-09-100x100.png?key=api\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>The Swapper (PC)<\/h3>\n<p>If you love good <strong>science fiction<\/strong> like Blade Runner, Alien, or most recently, Gravity, then you&#8217;ll love <a title=\"Download The Swapper\" href=\"http:\/\/the-swapper.softonic.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Swapper<\/a>. It may not be as mainstream as the Mass Effect series, but it does offer good ideas, some hilarious puzzles and a story where cloning plays a key role.<\/p>\n<p>Best of all, The Swapper, despite its apparent initial complexity, actually has controls that are extremely easily to master, as well as graphics that will leave you speechless, especially since they&#8217;re all made out of <strong>clay<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"height: 319px;width: 568px\" title=\"The Swapper \" src=\"https:\/\/articles-images.sftcdn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2013\/12\/The-Swapper-568x319.png\" alt=\"The Swapper \" width=\"568\" height=\"319\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"listapp\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/screenshots.en.sftcdn.net\/en\/scrn\/69657000\/69657452\/image-01-100x100.png?key=api\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Ridiculous Fishing &#8211; A Tale of Redemption (iPhone, Android)<\/h3>\n<p>Tired of playing <a title=\"Download Candy Crush\" href=\"http:\/\/candy-crush-saga.en.softonic.com\/android\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Candy Crush<\/a> on your mobile? Desperately need a completely\u00a0<strong>different<\/strong> game for your smartphone? Try Ridiculous Fishing: A tale of Redemption for <a title=\"for iPhone\" href=\"http:\/\/ridiculous-fishing---a-tale-of-redemption.en.softonic.com\/iphone\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">iOS<\/a> and <a title=\"for Android\" href=\"http:\/\/ridiculous-fishing.en.softonic.com\/android\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Android<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, just as the title implies, it&#8217;s a fishing game. What makes it original? You&#8217;ll find it has a story that grabs you, as well as well balanced challenges that will leave you glued to the small screen of your phone or tablet for hours,\u00a0<strong>without having to disturb your friends<\/strong> to ask them for candy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"height: 319px;width: 568px\" title=\"Ridiculous Fishing\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-images.sftcdn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2013\/12\/Ridiculous-Fishing-568x319.jpg\" alt=\"Ridiculous Fishing\" width=\"568\" height=\"319\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"listapp\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/screenshots.en.sftcdn.net\/en\/scrn\/69666000\/69666812\/image-03-100x100.png?key=api\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Rayman Legends <strong>(PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PS Vita)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Not everything good this year that&#8217;s gone unnoticed is <em>indie<\/em>. To prove it, we&#8217;re proposing the big-budget game Rayman Legends. It&#8217;s true that nearly everyone knows about Rayman, but lately, Ubisoft hasn&#8217;t been getting the attention it deserves for the brilliant games it creates based on this character. It was the same with <a title=\"Download Rayman Origins\" href=\"http:\/\/rayman-origins.en.softonic.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rayman <\/a><strong><a title=\"Download Rayman Origins\" href=\"http:\/\/rayman-origins.en.softonic.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Origins<\/a><strong> in 2011,<\/strong><\/strong> as well as this year&#8217;s <a title=\"Download Rayman Legends\" href=\"http:\/\/rayman-legends.en.softonic.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rayman Legends<\/a>, a sequel that \u2013 and this is saying a lot \u2013 improves upon the previous installment.<\/p>\n<p>We think that Rayman Legends is one of the most interesting mainstream games of 2013 for its unique imagination and unbeatable playability, and there&#8217;s no excuse not to try it because it&#8217;s been released for <strong>almost every platform imaginable.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"height: 319px;width: 568px\" title=\"Rayman Legends\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-images.sftcdn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2013\/12\/Rayman-Legends-568x319.jpg\" alt=\"Rayman Legends\" width=\"568\" height=\"319\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"listapp\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/screenshots.en.sftcdn.net\/en\/scrn\/69659000\/69659121\/image-01-100x100.png?key=api\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Injustice: Gods Among Us (PC, PS3, Xbox 360)<\/h3>\n<p>The fighting genre may no longer be as popular as it was in the 90s with Street Fighter and Co., but that doesn&#8217;t mean there aren&#8217;t still some great titles. The star this year has been <strong>Injustice: Gods Among Us<\/strong>, a game that had good sales that were, unfortunately, nowhere near as spectacular as they should have been given its quality.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you&#8217;re a fan of the characters in <strong>DC Comics <\/strong>or not, Injustice is a really fun game that could teach a thing or two to some well-established series. We noticed that the people behind Injustice are the same ones behind last year&#8217;s <a title=\"Download Mortal Kombat\" href=\"http:\/\/mortal-kombat-komplete-edition.en.softonic.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mortal Kombat<\/a>, which we also really enjoyed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"height: 319px;width: 568px\" title=\"Injustice: Gods Among Us \" src=\"https:\/\/articles-images.sftcdn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2013\/12\/Injustice-Gods-Among-Us-568x319.jpg\" alt=\"Injustice: Gods Among Us \" width=\"568\" height=\"319\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"listapp\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/screenshots.en.sftcdn.net\/en\/scrn\/69671000\/69671605\/image-01-100x100.png?key=api\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>X Rebirth (PC, Mac)<\/h3>\n<p>The X series has been with us almost 15 years, and while all of the installments have maintained a certain level of quality, the most recent one is particularly good. It&#8217;s true that <a title=\"Download X Rebirth\" href=\"http:\/\/x-rebirth.en.softonic.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">X Rebirth<\/a> hasn&#8217;t convinced everyone, but we loved it for its concept of open space and variety when it comes to choosing ways to play. Don&#8217;t get too bogged down in the huge amount of options you have. If you enjoy fixtures and tactics, along with press conferences and the transfer market\u2013 basically, if you live and breathe football\u2013give FM a chance this year. There are games that turn you into a <a title=\"Download Farming Simulator 2013\" href=\"http:\/\/farming-simulator-2013.en.softonic.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">farmer<\/a> or a <a title=\"Download Simcity\" href=\"http:\/\/simcity.en.softonic.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mayor<\/a>, but if there&#8217;s been one highlight of 2013, in addition to FM 2014, it&#8217;s the game that lets you walk in the shoes of a <strong>surgeon<\/strong>. Do you remember the board game &#8220;Operation&#8221;?<strong>Surgeon Simulator 2013<\/strong> is like a realistic digital version of the classic board game, letting you experience really complicated life or death situations.
