Today, Skype released Skype 4.7 for Android to stop the app from draining a device&#8217;s battery while in the background.<\/p>\n<p>The fix took <strong>seven months<\/strong> to complete. Skype promised to look into the issue <a title=\"Skype\u2019s Mobile Future: A Few Thoughts on the Road Ahead\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.skype.com\/2013\/06\/28\/skypes-mobile-future-a-few-thoughts-on-the-road-ahead\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">back in July<\/a> and has finally delivered.<\/p>\n<p>However, the fix has a caveat: <strong>notifications for group chats have been temporarily disabled<\/strong>. Skype says this was necessary to achieve &#8220;these amazing battery savings,&#8221; but promises to bring the feature back. For those who can&#8217;t live without group chat notifications, go to <em>Settings<\/em> &gt; <em>Notifications<\/em> &gt; and check &#8220;<em>Sync group messages in the background<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The update is available now in the Play Store.
