Preliminary tests performed by Ars Technica<\/em> show that Android L offers thirty-six percent<\/strong> more battery life.<\/p>\n

For Android L, Google focused on improving battery life with an internal project named “Volta.” We saw a preview of Project Volta<\/a> during Google’s I\/O conference last week.<\/p>\n

Put simply, Volta reduces the amount of time Android wakes up a device to perform maintenance tasks<\/strong> like cleaning up database and log files. Developers can also modify their app to perform these tasks only when the user is plugged in.<\/p>\n

\"Battery<\/p>\n

Google is also adding a “Battery Saver” mode, which dims the screen and disables non-essential services. This will be handy for squeezing a bit more battery out of your phone at the end of the day.<\/p>\n

Android L also improves battery life by utilizing a new runtime<\/strong> called ART. It is more efficient, boosting performance and battery life at the same time.<\/p>\n

Keep in mind that Android L is still an early beta, so Google still has time to further optimize the operating system and increase battery life further.<\/p>\n
