In this tutorial we&#8217;ll use a default texture included in Adobe&#8217;s tool to create a jigsaw puzzle effect with your favorite picture.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> Open the photo you want to work with and duplicate the background layer. Name this new layer &#8220;Puzzle&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-images.sftcdn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2009\/01\/puzzle01.jpg\" alt=\"Apply a puzzle effect to your photos\" \/><\/p>\n<p><!--more--> <strong>2.<\/strong> Now create another layer between the original background and the duplicate on. Name it &#8220;Background color&#8221; and fill it with black.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-images.sftcdn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2009\/01\/puzzle02.jpg\" alt=\"Apply a puzzle effect to your photos\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>3.<\/strong> Go to <em>Filter &gt; Texturer &gt; Texturizer<\/em> and click on the selected button to load the texture we need. Textures are usually saved in the <em>Presets\/Textures<\/em> subfolder, inside the Adobe Photoshop directory.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-images.sftcdn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2009\/01\/puzzle03.jpg\" alt=\"Apply a puzzle effect to your photos\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>4.<\/strong> Select the puzzle.psd file and click on OK. Once the texture has loaded on the image, adjust its settings (scaling, relief and light) to obtain the result you&#8217;re looking for.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-images.sftcdn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2009\/01\/puzzle04.jpg\" alt=\"Apply a puzzle effect to your photos\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>5.<\/strong> Now that the texture puzzle is already applied, it&#8217;s time to move some pieces around. Select any of the pieces in the puzzle with your favorite selection tool and press <strong>Ctrl+Shit+J<\/strong> to copy the selected piece onto its own layer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-images.sftcdn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2009\/01\/puzzle05.jpg\" alt=\"Apply a puzzle effect to your photos\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>6.<\/strong> Apply a <em>Drop Shadow<\/em> effect to the piece, and use Free Transformation (<strong>Ctrl+J<\/strong>) to change its angle.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-images.sftcdn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2009\/01\/puzzle06.jpg\" alt=\"Apply a puzzle effect to your photos\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7.<\/strong> Repeat steps <strong>5<\/strong> and <strong>6<\/strong> with other pieces in the puzzle.
