Previously called Google Maps Engine Lite, the feature allows you to create a map with points of interest, routes and much more. You can even view maps created by other users in the <a title=\"Google Maps Gallery\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/gallery\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Google Maps Gallery<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Users have already created some very interesting maps using the My Maps tool. One company created a map of all the <a title=\"USA violent crime in 2012\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/gallery\/details?id=zrsR_zh1Nhcw.kfe1p0ENOAVU&amp;hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">violent crime<\/a> across the country in the year 2012. There\u2019s also an option to view <a title=\"Historical Maps\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/gallery\/search?cat=historical&amp;hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">historical maps<\/a> to put history lessons into context.
