This move is interesting as Amazon basically inserted a Trojan Horse into Google&#8217;s own app store and operating system.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s in Google&#8217;s best interest to keep competing app stores like Amazon&#8217;s out of Google Play. This way, <strong>Google gets its 30% cut from app sales<\/strong>. In the past, Amazon got around this restriction by having Android users download and install a <a title=\"Amazon Appstore\" href=\"http:\/\/amazonappstore.en.softonic.com\/android\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">separate Appstore app<\/a>, which could be found by navigating to Amazon&#8217;s website on an Android device.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-75597\" title=\"Amazon Appstore\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2014\/10\/Amazon-Appstore-568x504.jpg\" alt=\"Amazon Appstore\" width=\"568\" height=\"504\" srcset=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2014\/10\/Amazon-Appstore-568x504.jpg 568w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2014\/10\/Amazon-Appstore-256x227.jpg 256w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 568px) 100vw, 568px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now with its app store integrated directly into the <a title=\"Amazon for Android\" href=\"http:\/\/amazon-mobile.en.softonic.com\/android\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Amazon app<\/a>, users won&#8217;t need to install another app. However, users will still need to enable installing apps from <strong>outside sources<\/strong> to use the Amazon Appstore. <strong>This circumvents a key layer in Android&#8217;s security<\/strong>, which may scare some users.<\/p>\n<p>In my testing, apps installed without issue but Google Play still offers a better experience, requiring fewer steps.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon&#8217;s AppStore may gain traction since <strong>50 to 100 million users<\/strong> already have its Amazon app installed.
