This week we are looking at Phind, the app that tells you exactly what you are looking at… providing you are looking at is a building.

Blending the words “photo” and “find,” the name itself is a pretty accurate description of what the app does. Take a photo of a building or landmark and Phind will use the image and location data to, well, find it.

This may not seem too useful, but add a few other apps to the mix and Phind becomes a more powerful tool. Integrating Wikepedia and you will instantly be delivered the history of the building and area. Tie-in TripAdvisor and you can find restaurants and other activities in the area. You can even connect Uber to instantly book a car.

Expecting it to know every building in the world may be a bit of a stretch, but if you are in a city center with distinctive markers Phind proves incredibly useful. That being said, don’t rely on it too much unless you know you have a good internet connection.

Phind is a great use of augmented reality, especially if you are already using compatible apps.

Related Stories

App of the Week: Periscope

App of the Week: Project CARS

Phind Review

Follow me on Twitter: @DoFuss

Softonic’s App of the Week highlights some of the coolest, most unique, and popular apps that have been released for Android, iOS, Windows, and Mac.
