{"id":86713,"date":"2016-03-23T12:52:33","date_gmt":"2016-03-23T10:52:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/onsoftware.en.softonic.com\/?p=86713"},"modified":"2025-07-02T00:02:20","modified_gmt":"2025-07-02T07:02:20","slug":"get-ready-for-whatsapps-darkest-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms-articles.softonic.io\/en\/get-ready-for-whatsapps-darkest-change\/","title":{"rendered":"Get ready for WhatsApp\u2019s \u201cdarkest\u201d change yet!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019ll soon be time for another round of <strong>updates<\/strong> on the world\u2019s most popular messenger service, and thanks to the constant discovery of new beta data, we\u2019ve learned of a new feature that should be coming our way shortly.<\/p>\n<p>According to the website <em>Android Police<\/em>, <strong>WhatsApp<\/strong> will soon be offering text formatting (such as the ability to change your text using <em>italics<\/em> and <strong>bold<\/strong>). \u00a0We can only presume that WhatsApp\u2019s reasons for implementing this, is to not fall behind their rivals, such as <em><strong>Slack<\/strong><\/em>, who already offer this function.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-86715\" title=\"ap_resize.php\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2016\/03\/ap_resize.php_-568x366.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"568\" height=\"366\" srcset=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2016\/03\/ap_resize.php_-568x366.png 568w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2016\/03\/ap_resize.php_-256x165.png 256w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2016\/03\/ap_resize.php_.png 728w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 568px) 100vw, 568px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In order to use this new feature, you will only have to put the text you wish to appear in bold between *<strong>two asterisks<\/strong>*, or _<em>two underscores<\/em>_ for italics. Of course, we\u2019ll have to wait a little while longer to see this feature arrive to all handsets, but as <strong>WhatsApp<\/strong> seem to working flat out on new updates, we hopefully won\u2019t have to wait that long.<\/p>\n<p>There are also other improvements we can expect to see with regards to the latest <strong>document sharing<\/strong> feature on the platform. When attaching a document, we can now see a \u201c<strong>Browse other docs<\/strong>\u201d option which allows you to browse your <strong>Google Drive<\/strong> and <strong>Microsoft One <\/strong>drive accounts.
