Facebook Messenger<\/strong><\/a> for iOS<\/strong> is about to introduce a particularly interesting new feature \u2013 messages that autodestruct. Basically, this means that you will soon be able to send messages over the app that will have an expiration date<\/strong> \u2013 very similar to the Snapchat<\/strong> way of working.<\/p>\n

This option has been discovered by Twitter<\/strong> user @iOSAppChanges<\/strong><\/a>, that has (somehow) managed to capture screenshots of the function:<\/p>\n

As you can see, with this option, you can enable or disable \u201cDisappearing Messages<\/strong><\/em>\u201d. If the option is activated, \u00a0you have the choice to make the message vanish from existence after a certain amount of time once the recipient has read it.<\/p>\n

This option could be very useful for sending sensitive information<\/strong> to a contact (ie, bank details, addresses, etc). Of course, nothing can stop the recipient taking a screenshot of the message before it\u2019s deleted<\/strong>, but that all depends on how much you trust your Facebook<\/strong> friends.<\/p>\n

With the feature, Messenger<\/strong> will start closing in on the gap between its rivals, as it’s similar to one of the star characteristics of Snapchat<\/strong><\/a>, and the best features of Telegram<\/strong> (the secret chat option).<\/p>\n

So, when can we get to see and use this new feature?<\/p>\n

At the moment, it\u2019s still in its development phases, which in Facebook<\/strong> terms, means that it could only be a matter of weeks.<\/p>\n
