The 2017 edition of Avast has a Brand new feature that is perfect for users who have two or more antivirus programs running at the same time. \u201cPassive Mode\u201d disables Avast\u2019s active protection if it detects another antivirus program<\/strong> that could cause a compatibility problem. Let me explain how it works so that you can get the most out of this brand new feature.<\/p>\n

Avast 2017\u2019s \u201cPassive Mode\u201d will show itself when you first install Avast if you already have an antivirus program running on your machine. If this happens you\u2019ll get this warning.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere could be issues if you have two antiviruses installed. We\u2019re going to go into Passive mode to avoid any trouble.\u201d Warns Avast. \u201cWhile passive, you can still run scans and use our other features, but [Insert name of previously installed Antivirus program here] is in charge of active protection.\u2019<\/p>\n

If you want to activate or deactivate \u201cPassive Mode\u201d<\/strong> you must go to the \u201cConfiguration\u201d section (in the Avast sidebar) and click on \u201cTroubleshooting\u201d.<\/p>\n

Here you will be able to activate \u201cPassive Mode\u201d, if you want another antivirus program to actively protect your PC, or disable it if you want Avast to be in charge.<\/p>\n

If you want to turn off \u201cPassive Mode\u201d you\u2019ll get this warning:<\/p>\n

It is up to you what to do next. You can risk it and disable \u201cPassive Mode\u201d whilst the other antivirus program is still running or you can uninstall the \u201cdominant\u201d antivirus program.<\/p>\n
