Professional journalists, interested readers and trusted volunteers, will run the Wikitribune. Journalists will publish the sources for each published story and make materials like audio transcripts available to the public.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/214586867\" width=\"550\" height=\"309\" frameborder=\"0\" title=\"Wikitribune Campaign\" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Community members will be encouraged to fact-check all articles. Members of the public will then be able to suggest edits to a story but all changes will need to be approved by staff members or trusted volunteers before being published.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-91366\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2017\/04\/wikitribune-700x593.jpg\" alt=\"Wikipedia wants to Tackle Fake News with the Wikitribune\" width=\"700\" height=\"593\" srcset=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2017\/04\/wikitribune-700x593.jpg 700w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2017\/04\/wikitribune-700x593-300x254.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Wikitribune will be ad-free and will not be behind a paywall but will be financed via a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wikitribune.com\/become-supporter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">crowdfunding campaign<\/a>, which launches today, and will cover a wide range of issues. Readers will then be able to take out monthly $15 subscriptions, which will then give them influence over the topics that the reporters cover.<\/p>\n<p>Wales believes that this is just the beginning of the project and it is only designed to attract funding and journalism.
