Now this is fine if you don\u2019t mind your data being shared with advertisers but if you\u2019re not too comfortable with huge corporations sharing your personal information with each other you\u2019d better read on.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-91701\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2017\/05\/Untitled-12-copy.jpg\" alt=\"Twitter Privacy Policy Update\" width=\"675\" height=\"414\" srcset=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2017\/05\/Untitled-12-copy.jpg 675w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2017\/05\/Untitled-12-copy-300x184.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 675px) 100vw, 675px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The changes will take effect on June 18<sup>th<\/sup> and you\u2019ll automatically be opted in so you\u2019ll have to take proactive action to stop your data being shared. Read on\u2026<\/p>\n<h2>There are 3 Big Changes taking place:<\/h2>\n<p><strong>The 1<sup>st<\/sup> Big Change<\/strong> is that <strong>your web data will be stored for longer.<\/strong> At the moment your data is stored for 10 days but come June 18<sup>th<\/sup> <strong>Twitter will store all the information it collects using cookies for 30 days.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Big Change<\/strong> is that <strong>Twitter is going to start ramping up how it shares your data:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;We&#8217;ve updated how we share non-personal, aggregated and device-level data, including through some select partnership agreements that allow the data to be linked to your name, email, or other personal information &#8212; but only when you give your consent to those partners.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>The 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Big Change<\/strong> is that <strong>Twitter no longer supports Do Not Track.<\/strong> Due to what Twitter calls an industry-standard approach it will no longer enable you to prevent advertisers from tracking your browsing history.<\/p>\n<h2>What can you do about it?<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_91699\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-91699\" style=\"width: 904px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-91699\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2017\/05\/Twitter-Privacy.jpg\" alt=\"If You Value Your Privacy Change These Twitter Settings Now\" width=\"904\" height=\"832\" srcset=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2017\/05\/Twitter-Privacy.jpg 904w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2017\/05\/Twitter-Privacy-300x276.jpg 300w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2017\/05\/Twitter-Privacy-768x707.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 904px) 100vw, 904px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-91699\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">It might be worth checking both the app and the webpage Twitter settings<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Fortunately, <strong>Twitter are giving users greater control over their privacy settings<\/strong> so you\u2019ll be able to opt out of all these changes if you wish.
