Imagine that you\u2019re playing an online game of <\/span>Call of Duty<\/span><\/a> or FIFA on your PlayStation 4. The map or game (respectively) is very heated, but suddenly several notifications on the upper right corner of the screen pop up. Yes, those <\/span>random messages or invites<\/b> usually jump out at the player and, thus, concentration is lost. Now, did you know that you can disable them so they don\u2019t bother you ever again?<\/span><\/p>\n

This option is pretty hidden within the different <\/span>PlayStation Network <\/b>menus, so we\u2019re going to guide you step-by-step and explain each option, so you don\u2019t have any trouble getting rid of them.<\/span><\/p>\n

In depth<\/b><\/h2>\n

The first thing to do is to turn on the console, log into your user profile and head to the upper bar to the right of everything. \u201cAm I going to turn it off again?\u201d No, relax, the key button is just to the left of the off button, i.e. <\/span>Settings.<\/b>\u00a0Let\u2019s go in.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are many tabs and you won\u2019t have a clue what some of them are for, right? It\u2019s happened to us all at some point, so the important thing now is to click on <\/span>Notifications,<\/b>\u00a0which is the one we want.<\/span><\/p>\n

Within this category, you\u2019ll see five new ones: Pop-up notifications<\/strong>, Disable pop-ups while playing video<\/strong>, Pop-up color<\/strong>, Display message in notification<\/strong>, and Notifications when friends go online<\/strong>. Our advice is to disable the second option <\/span>forever<\/b>, i.e. <\/span>while playing video.\u00a0<\/b>There\u2019s nothing more annoying than a notification while you\u2019re watching a movie. Once you\u2019ve done this, go to Pop-up notifications<\/strong> and press X<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here are the <\/span>most important ones<\/b> within this vast world of notifications: Messages<\/strong>, Friend requests<\/strong>, Activities<\/strong>, Invitations<\/strong>, When friends go online<\/strong>, When friends join a party<\/strong>, Trophies<\/strong>, Game alerts<\/strong>, Downloads<\/strong>, Uploads<\/strong>, Communities<\/strong>, Requests to watch gameplay<\/strong>, Events<\/strong>, Teams<\/strong>, Current song<\/strong>, Blocked scenes for video recording<\/strong>, When taking screenshots<\/strong>, Live from <\/strong><\/span>PlayStation<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and When you have a new follower<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The names don’t leave much room for error, so here you can decide which you prefer to get rid of. For example, if you have a lot of added friends, maybe you\u2019re interested in unchecking the option<\/span>\u00a0When friends go online,<\/b>\u00a0while if you play a lot of FIFA, the option for disabling <\/span>Messages\u00a0<\/b>is advisable (for all those insults that’ll come your way after finishing the game, from our experience.)<\/span><\/p>\n

There are other tabs that truly have little use, such as <\/span>Downloads<\/b>,\u00a0<\/span>Uploads<\/b>\u00a0and even <\/span>Events.\u00a0<\/b>However, and as we\u2019ve been saying throughout this article, the final decision is always in your hands (or, at your fingertips, to be more exact). <\/span><\/p>\n

You should remember that these instructions won\u2019t get you a safer <\/span>PlayStation<\/span><\/a> Network account, but simply will <\/span>prevent you from getting too many notifications<\/b> while you\u2019re playing or using your PlayStation 4.
