Everybody loves a good GIF<\/strong> and in today\u2019s world of ever evolving non-text digital communication, a well placed GIF can literally get you hundreds of thousands of retweets and social shares. Even if some people argue that your clever GIF doesn\u2019t help your argument<\/a>, it doesn\u2019t matter. GIFs are a big deal, GIFs are here to stay, and Google knows this<\/strong>. That is why Google has just bought its very own GIF startup, Tenor<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a blog post<\/a>, Google announced that it had acquired Tenor but that the GIF maker would be remaining a separate brand. The big win for Google with this acquisition is that GIFs will now start showing up in Google images and will be much more easily incorporated into Google tools like Gboard.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tenor has also been used by Facebook\u2019s Messenger app<\/a> so there could be some knock-on effects to GIF implementation in Messenger, but we\u2019ll have to wait and see.<\/p>\n
