After its official announcement, the highly anticipated update for GTA Online, called San Andreas Mercenaries, is now available to download. Any player who enters the game this weekend will have access to this content, which is packed with new features that promise hours of gameplay once again.
As it is well known, in this update, players will have to assemble a team with the most renowned mercenaries in Los Santos to fight against the security forces of Merryweather. Leading this action is Charlie Reed, a former military personnel and current aircraft mechanic who created the action plan called Project Takedown.
Behind this name, there are six new missions for 1 to 4 players that will test the skills of the users. How? By conducting reconnaissance, retrieving valuable equipment, carrying out daring rescues, and much more that has yet to be revealed. Project Takedown begins with the new update to the operations terminal for the Mammoth Avenger, available at Warstock Cache & Carry.
Los Santos Angels
In addition to Project Takedown, San Andreas Mercenaries introduces more content, as expected. The Los Santos Angels can take on three private contracts to carry out operations from the new terminal as well. Upon completing each contract for the first time, players have the opportunity to acquire unique outfits and optional additional target rotations on subsequent playthroughs to earn more loot.
“The missions range from jumping out of a helicopter and onto the deck of an aircraft carrier under the cover of darkness, to calling in an airstrike and using an EMP to disable a government facility,” explains Rockstar Games. “LSA operations can also be initiated directly by calling Charlie from your iFruit phone once you have installed the operations terminal.”
Upgraded hangars and the Mammoth Avenger
For this occasion, hangars are being upgraded to offer new capabilities and features. A fully equipped hangar now allows players to store and customize the Avenger, as well as upgrade their personal arsenal with the Weapon Workshop Mk II.
In addition to this, players will encounter characters like Rooster McCraw, a helicopter pilot who can source aerial cargo for a small fee. There are also weapons available in the property and a flight school located within the hangar. Four new cargo acquisition missions have been added to the hangar’s laptop, along with three new sales missions.
Continuing with the aerial theme, the utility of the Mammoth Avenger has been expanded in this update, as it was one of the most requested features by players. It is no longer necessary to own a facility or hangar to have and pilot an Avenger. Players can request it directly from their location through the “Services” section of the “Interaction” menu. Those who have a hangar with a workshop can customize their aerial stronghold with new military upgrades, including front-facing machine guns, missiles, a stealth module, and a missile lock-inhibitor that can be activated while on autopilot.
Another upgrade available for the Avenger is the Mammoth Avenger Thruster. “If you have left your Mobile Operations Center on autopilot hovering above the city while you’re on the ground, you can simply call the Mammoth Avenger Thruster directly from your location using the Interaction menu. When you are near the Avenger’s rear cargo hold, press right on the D-pad to dock inside,” they explain.
The content package of the update also includes:
- New vehicles: Grotti Itali GTO Stinger TT, Maibatsu MonstroCiti, Declasse Walton L35, Vapid Ratel, F-160 Raiju, Mammoth Streamer216, and more from previous updates.
- New weapon: the Tactical Submachine Gun, now available in the Mobile Operations Center’s arsenal.
