Do you remember Alita: Battle Angel? James Cameron just gave us the news of the year
Many of us freaked out with this adaptation of the manga to the big screen and our joy went to the well when we found out that they were not going to continue the story…
Released in 2019, director Robert Rodriguez’s Alita: Battle Angel is an adaptation of the Japanese manga Gunnm (Alita: Battle Angel, in English) by Yukito Kishiro.
The film received generally positive reviews and was relatively successful at the box office, but the two planned sequels have not come to fruition to date. So much so that many experts in the business have written off the sequels.
James Cameron inadvertently confirmed this while discussing his mansions with Forbes
In a recent interview with Forbes on why he decided to sell his California mansion, Cameron, in his explanation, seems to reveal that several sequels to Alita: Battle Angel are in the works.
The producer does not reveal details or timelines, but development will presumably take place in between his work on the three remaining Avatar sequels. This is, exactly what Cameron has said:
“With Avatar, I’m working in Wellington and Los Angeles. And on the new Alita: Battle Angel films, I’ll be working in Austin, so it no longer made sense for us to keep this house,” he explains.

It should be noted that, despite Cameron’s promising comments, Disney has not yet made any official announcements about new Alita: Battle Angel movies. But, if the producer has talked about the film, we can take it for granted.
This was further complicated by the fact that Disney subsequently bought 20th Century Studios. However, the film’s huge fan following and the continued enthusiasm for a sequel from audiences and stars lend considerable credence to the filmmaker’s comments that the project is on track.
