Francis Ford Coppola will finally see his most anticipated project, Megalopolis, come to life after decades of efforts to make it happen. This science fiction film, independently financed by the director himself, will feature a top-notch cast led by Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito, Aubrey Plaza, Laurence Fishburne, and Shia LaBeouf, among other talents.
Despite facing difficulties in finding support from film studios, Coppola is determined to bring Megalopolis to the big screen as his final masterpiece. Now the first trailer of the film has been released, and it has left us speechless:
Surprising success or announced failure?
The Megalopolis trailer has left us speechless, and every frame of it seems to be a work of art in itself. It is true that its plot is not completely clear yet, but in these first images that have been revealed, we can already catch a glimpse of actors like Adam Driver or Laurence Fishburne in their respective roles.
The film will premiere at the International Cannes Film Festival which takes place from May 14th to May 25th. It will compete with other feature films such as Kinds of Kindness by Yorgos Lanthimos, The Substance by Coralie Fargeat, or Anora by Sean Baker. Although, after many attempts, Megalopolis has already found an international distributor, the festival will make it clearer whether the film will be a success or if it will remain the failure that many announce.

Undoubtedly, it is a bit sad to see how a movie from the director of The Godfather is struggling so much in its premiere. However, it is also true that his latest movies were a disaster, and the great frames we have seen so far are making it quite clear that it will be a great farewell to his career.
