Variety has just announced news that none of us were prepared for: Spaceballs, also known as The Spaceballs, will have a sequel on Amazon Prime Video. The streaming platform has revived the best Star Wars parody made to date, with Mel Brooks returning as producer and Josh Gad as the new protagonist of the film.
Many will remember this great parody from 1987 in which actors of the caliber of Rick Moranis, John Candy, Bill Pullman, Daphne Zuniga, Dick Van Patten, and John Hurt participated. Now, we will see how it continues and how they satirize the vast new universe of Star Wars thanks to a sequel that no one expected but that we all eagerly embrace to know more.

Star Wars, get ready
The director of Spaceballs 2 will be Josh Greenbaum, the filmmaker behind comedies like Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar or Strays. And, as for the script, it is in the hands of Benji Samit, Dan Hernandez, and the filmmaker himself Josh Gad, who has helped bring this unexpected project to life. We still don’t know when we will be able to see this science fiction sequel, but it is expected that more secrets will be revealed soon.
