Xbox has significantly expanded its ecosystem, allowing its games to reach various screens and strongly betting on Cloud Gaming. In a recent interview with The Destin Channel, Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, confirmed that Microsoft’s next console is in development and is expected to be released in the coming years. Spencer emphasized the importance of hardware innovation to differentiate in a market that has seen a decrease in differentiation between consoles.
Xbox now also on PlayStation
“I want us to innovate and make hardware the differentiating element,” expressed Spencer, emphasizing that the brand’s identity should be based on both technological innovation and the offering of exclusive games. This strategy translates into a change of perspective, where Xbox will begin to release more titles on competing platforms, including consoles like the PlayStation 5.
A shocking announcement was the confirmation that Forza Horizon 5, the popular open-world racing game, will make its debut on PlayStation 5 in the spring of 2025. This version will include all the content available for Xbox and PC, such as updates, expansions, and an extensive fleet of over 900 cars, in addition to enabling crossplay between platforms. Definitely, this move marks a new phase in the video game market, breaking with previous practices.
Additionally, Playground Games is working on a special update called Horizon Realms, which promises to feature community-created worlds for all players. With these changes, Xbox aims not only to stay relevant but to reinvent its image and expand its impact in the digital entertainment industry.
