Eric Kripke, the creator of the successful Amazon series, The Boys, has confirmed in a recent interview that there are plans to develop a video game based on the franchise. However, the project is not intended for consoles at this time. Kripke indicated that, while there is a desire to create a game for platforms like Xbox or PlayStation, there are still no concrete plans. “There are plans for other types of video games that are not necessarily console-based”, he commented.
Superheroes, now playable!
To date, the characters from The Boys have appeared in renowned titles like Call of Duty and Mortal Kombat, but there hasn’t been a game dedicated exclusively to the series. The universe created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson is full of powerful characters and unique abilities, suggesting a strong potential for an engaging video game, especially given the irreverent and comedic tone of the series.
In addition to the video game, The Boys has expanded its universe with several spin-off series. Gen V, for example, recently concluded its second season, while the production of The Boys: Mexico and a prequel titled Vought Rising, set in the 1950s, is expected. The main series is scheduled to return with its fifth and final season in 2026.
Amazon, which produces The Boys in collaboration with Sony, has proven to be a significant player in the video game industry. Although the development of a dedicated video game has not yet been finalized, the combination of a rich world, complex characters, and the popularity of the series puts The Boys in a favorable position for a future in the realm of video games.
