The anticipated remake of Gothic has finally received a confirmed release date: it will be on June 5, 2026, and will be available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. This new version is being developed by Alkimia Interactive, a studio that promises to show great respect for the original material, the iconic open-world RPG that Piranha Bytes released in 2001.
The chaotic world of Myrtana
A new trailer captures the decadent atmosphere and the strong sense of being an antihero that characterize the original. Players will be able to explore the Kingdom of Myrtana, plunged into chaos after the orc invasion, where prisoners, forced to work in the mining of magical material, rebel and create factions amid the conflict.
This remake will not only promise a nostalgic experience but will also incorporate state-of-the-art technology that will enhance both the graphics and the gameplay mechanics. With over 50 hours of gameplay, Alkimia Interactive’s proposal includes tactical combat with superior fluidity compared to its predecessor, as well as interactions with NPCs that reflect the daily life of a hostile environment, making the world feel more immersive.
