Sony has already locked in one PlayStation Plus Essential game for August: Big Walk. It’s arriving day one on August 4, 2026, which puts House House’s new co-op adventure on Sony’s base subscription tier before the rest of the August lineup has even been announced.
Sony should still unveil the other August 2026 PlayStation Plus Essential games on July 29, going by its usual timing. For now, though, Big Walk is the only title confirmed. That stands out because Essential tends to skew toward older monthly picks, while newer releases are more often saved for PlayStation Plus Extra or PlayStation Plus Premium.
Big Walk comes from House House, the studio behind Untitled Goose Game. It supports 2 to 12 players and centers on exploration, teamwork, and communication, with proximity voice chat and other systems that make players stick together, split up carefully, regroup, and work through problems as a team.
So if you’ve been hoping for something brand new on PlayStation Plus Essential, rather than another older catalog-style selection, this is a good one to claim. Cross-play with PC and Nintendo Switch 2 should help, too, especially if your friends aren’t all on PlayStation.
Big Walk goes live for PlayStation 5 through PlayStation Plus Essential on August 4. PlayStation Plus is also about to lose a chunk of its catalog, with nine Extra and Premium games set to leave on August 18.
