Paramount+ says Dexter: Resurrection Season 2, the latest series in the Dexter franchise, premieres October 30, 2026 on Paramount+. So yes, it’s landing the night before Halloween, and the announcement comes with the first official trailer and a batch of first-look images.
The renewal took a while to become official, even after a strong first season. Still, the trailer leaves little doubt about how Paramount+ wants this show read: as a big piece of the franchise’s return after Dexter: New Blood, whose split-the-fandom ending seemed to finish Dexter for good.
Season 2 picks up with Dexter alive after that gunshot wound and now in New York City. Going by Paramount+’s trailer, he’s stuck in a kind of midlife crisis in a city packed with other serial killers. Harrison Morgan is still right at the center of things too, with Jack Alcott continuing the father-son story.
Michael C. Hall is fully back on screen as Dexter, which helps separate Resurrection from Dexter: Original Sin, the prequel that debuted in December 2024. In that one, Patrick Gibson played the younger Dexter, while Hall handled only the inner monologue before the show’s single-season run added more to the mythology.
There’s new casting to keep an eye on. Brian Cox comes in as Don Frampt, the “New York Ripper,” Dan Stevens plays younger killer Owen Stark, and Uma Thurman is back. If New Blood left you doubtful about coming back for more, this one at least looks like it deserves a shot.
