Disney+ just dropped the first trailer for Ahsoka season 2, the next chapter of the Star Wars series, ahead of its January 20, 2027 release. The footage points to a much bigger mystery around Baylan Skoll, digs further into Mortis mythology, and hints at a conflict that could spill well past Grand Admiral Thrawn’s war with the New Republic.
The big takeaway from the trailer is the theory that Ahsoka season 2 may be bringing Abeloth into official Star Wars canon. In Legends, she’s one of the most terrifying dark side figures around, tied to overwhelming power and a presence that seems to bend reality itself, though Lucasfilm still hasn’t confirmed any of that.
Baylan Skoll still feels like the biggest loose thread left hanging after Ahsoka season 1 ended with him on Peridea beside the statues of the Mortis Gods. Dave Filoni has already said season 2 goes deeper into that story, so it’s easy to see why so many fans think Baylan’s ancient call could end with Abeloth being revealed, or set loose.
Grand Admiral Thrawn also still looks like a major antagonist, with the trailer teasing a very large battle, a split timeline, a redesigned look, and the return of the Great Mothers. So Ahsoka season 2 may be setting up both a military threat and a Force-driven horror story at the same time.
