Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector hits PlayStation Plus on PS5 on July 28 in the US, UK, and Japan, and subscribers can pick it up at no extra cost. For this month’s lineup, it’s one of the more interesting RPG additions.
In Citizen Sleeper 2, you play a sleeper, an artificial body with a digitized human consciousness inside it, trying to survive while fleeing a powerful corporation. If Cyberpunk 2077’s neon atmosphere works for you, but you’d rather have the kind of choice-heavy roleplaying Baldur’s Gate 3 leans on, that’s where the comparisons come from.
This also isn’t your usual action RPG. Most of what you do comes down to story choices, resource management, keeping your crew together, taking jobs, and dealing with tabletop-style dice rolls that can go your way or turn on you. The sequel pushes past the first game with ship travel across the Starward Belt, multi-cycle Contracts, and a Stress system that can damage your future rolls.
If you like dense world-building and decisions that actually carry weight, this is a good PlayStation Plus pickup. Early reviews point to the writing, the stronger systems, and the more dynamic Contracts as some of its biggest draws. If you’re after nonstop combat or something faster on its feet, though, the text-heavy pace and the mix of visual novel and tabletop structure may feel a little slow.
You can get Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector through PlayStation Plus on PS5 starting July 28. Its arrival is also another example of Sony using the service to give standout indies space next to bigger-budget releases.
