Archetype Entertainment says Exodus is coming on April 7, 2027. If you’ve been waiting for something in that big, companion-driven, Mass Effect vein, this is one to keep an eye on.
You play The Traveler in a single-player, third-person action RPG set in the Omega Centauri cluster, where you’re stealing Celestial technology and making choices that shape the story around your crew and companions. The lineage is pretty obvious. James Ohlen and Drew Karpyshyn, both former BioWare leads, bring the kind of background that immediately brings Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and Knights of the Old Republic to mind.
The part that really stands out is the time dilation hook. You head out on near-light-speed missions that take only days for you, but back home, decades can pass. Relationships shift. Politics move on. Whole civilizations might change beyond recognition, or disappear outright. That’s where the game gets a little Interstellar.
So far, early previews and fan reactions have leaned cautious rather than excited. Some players want to see how that time mechanic actually works once you’re playing, not just hearing about it. Others aren’t sold on parts of the character visuals or the broader art style.
Still, if you’ve missed story-first space operas, Exodus looks like it could be worth picking up when it arrives. There’s Matthew McConaughey playing C.C. Orlev, the game is built in Unreal Engine 5, and Archetype is already pushing the setting beyond the game itself with Peter F. Hamilton novels and a tabletop RPG. Then there was Gamescom 2026, which introduced Salt, an intelligent octopus in a mech suit. According to Archetype Entertainment, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
