Apple’s Foundation is expanding in a real way. Season 3 of the Apple TV+ series now has a premiere date, July 11, 2025, and the mobile 4X game Foundation: Galactic Frontier launched Season 2, The Usurper, on September 14, 2026. Put together, those releases push Isaac Asimov’s franchise well past a simple screen adaptation.
The new TV season jumps forward 152 years, brings in The Mule, and keeps Jared Harris and Lee Pace in the cast. Apple TV+ has already renewed Foundation for Season 4 as well. Behind the scenes, David S. Goyer is stepping back as showrunner after reports of budget disagreements with Skydance Television, and Ian Goldberg is set to take over.
On the game side, Season 2 moves the story from Korell to Siwenna, a resource-rich world that’s largely been abandoned, and throws you into a conflict between the Ascendancy Court and the Progressive Front. It also adds magnetic storms, a Resistance system, expanded guild activities, seasonal objectives, territorial competition, and planned cross-server battles.
If you follow Foundation on screen, or you play mobile 4X games with any regularity, this is something to keep an eye on. Foundation and Foundation: Galactic Frontier are taking the franchise much further than a straight Asimov adaptation.
Foundation: Galactic Frontier Season 2, The Usurper, first went live on Servers 1001-1016 on September 14, 2026, with broader access coming after testing for servers that have been open for at least 90 days, while some are still in Interstellar Migration.
