IDW Games has locked in Godzilla: The Roleplaying Game for fall 2026, giving the long-running kaiju series an official new tabletop RPG. The Kickstarter page places it in IDW’s Kai-Sei Era, where players step into the shoes of survivors and specialists trying to get through a world shaped by kaiju attacks, mutation, survival, and city-wide destruction, not just giant monster brawls. The campaign is already funded, and fulfillment is still expected in fall 2026.
The system also does one thing a little differently. Godzilla: The Roleplaying Game swaps dice for a standard 52-card deck, and it uses a Crisis Clock to keep major events moving and raise the tension in a more cinematic way. Early convention demos and playtests point to a game that moves quickly, keeps the rules easy to pick up, and gets some extra tactical mileage out of the card-based setup.
The Kickstarter page also lists 12 classes, with Soldier, Thief, and Scientist among them, along with playable mutants and half-breeds. On the kaiju side, the lineup includes Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah, Anguirus, Hedorah, Kamacuras, Kumonga, Manda, Rodan, Biollante, Destoroyah, and Megalon. If you’re after a Godzilla game with more of a story focus, this one looks like a good pickup.
