Google Pixel 10a: What we expect

Google’s Pixel A-series has been a budget-friendly alternative to its flagship lineup, offering premium features at a lower price. With the Pixel 9a just announced, attention is already shifting to what the Pixel 10a might bring to the table. Based on leaks and speculation, here’s what we can expect from Google’s next affordable smartphone.

A more powerful processor

The biggest change for the Pixel 10a could be its “boosted” version of the Tensor G4 chip, which would mark a significant shift in Google’s A-series strategy. While previous A-series models shared the same processor as their flagship counterparts, the Pixel 10a might feature an optimized version of last year’s chip, improving thermal efficiency and overall performance without reintroducing overheating issues.

Possible display and charging improvements

Each year, Google introduces at least one display enhancement from its flagship series into the A-series. With the Pixel 8a featuring a 120Hz display and the Pixel 9a matching the brightness levels of its premium siblings, the Pixel 10a could be the first A-series phone to include LTPO technology, which would significantly improve battery life.

Additionally, Google might finally upgrade the charging speed of the Pixel 10a. While the Pixel 9a saw a small increase, it still lags behind competitors offering 80W charging. The Pixel 10a could introduce 30W charging, bringing it closer to industry standards.

Design and camera expectations

Since the Pixel 9a already adopted a new, flatter design, major aesthetic changes for the Pixel 10a seem unlikely. The device is also expected to retain its larger battery, given the Pixel 9a’s success in this area. Camera improvements are uncertain, as leaks suggest that while the flagship Pixel 10 might get a telephoto lens, this feature may not reach the A-series.

Expected price and launch date

Google will likely keep the Pixel 10a at an affordable $499 price point, ensuring it remains competitive. If Google follows its recent timeline, the Pixel 10a could be announced in early 2026, maintaining the company’s annual release schedule.
