HBO has revealed new wand designs for its upcoming Harry Potter TV series, giving Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, and Draco Malfoy updated looks ahead of the planned Christmas 2026 premiere.
In the first images, the props look rougher and more organic than the polished wands from the Warner Bros. films. They’re woodier, a little more branch-like, and much closer to something grown than something finished. That lines up with production designer Mara LePere-Schloop’s approach, summed up in the phrase “nature is the root of magic,” and it fits a wider visual rethink that also covers other magical artifacts and redesigned Hogwarts house crests.
Taken together, it points to HBO building its own adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s books rather than extending the visual language of the Warner Bros. movies for television. Some fans on social media have already said Harry’s wand feels closer to early concepts tied to Rowling’s descriptions, though it’s still far too soon to say the series will be more book-accurate across the board.
Reaction so far is mixed. Still, if you’re hoping for a Wizarding World that sticks closer to the books in story, even if not in design, this shift feels worth paying attention to. From a production standpoint, and honestly from a branding one too, the move makes sense.
The new images are out now as HBO keeps rolling out details about the series, which has already confirmed its main trio and is still targeting a Christmas 2026 premiere.
