The sequel to the acclaimed Spanish series Aída is a fact. It will be titled Aída y vuelta, and it is in an advanced stage of production; but it will not maintain the series format, instead, it will be a feature film that will arrive in theaters and later on Amazon Prime Video. This new approach will incorporate elements of metafiction, giving an innovative twist to the classic narrative that fans have come to adore.

Today Aída starts her life and she won’t stop until she sees you comfortable

The project features the participation of most of the original cast, including prominent actors such as Carmen Machi, Eduardo Casanova, Miren Ibarguren, and Pepe Viyuela, among others. However, some notable absences, such as that of Ana Polvorosa, have been a topic of discussion. Despite this, Machi has expressed her enthusiasm for the project, noting that Paco León’s direction was a decisive factor for her participation, as she considers it magical for Aída to return to the cinemas.

Paco León, in addition to directing, will be part of the cast and has shared his creative vision. In his statements, he emphasizes that the film will seek to explore the limits of humor and fame, themes that, in his opinion, will also attract an audience that may not have been familiar with the series. León has expressed the pressure he feels to meet the expectations of the team and the audience, although his desire is for the film to have a positive impact, even aspiring for a nomination for the Goya Awards.

Laura Fernández, CEO of The Mediapro Studio, has also commented on the project, assuring that the film will maintain the characteristic humor of Aída, but with a narrative more suitable for cinema, moving away from the structure of a conventional episode. Aída y vuelta promises to become an inclusive cinematic experience and, at the same time, a nostalgic return for the show’s fans.
