Disney Dreamlight Valley has been quite a success since its launch. However, this does not mean that the game has been without fault. In fact, it’s riddled with bugs and issues that impact playability. Luckily, the new Disney Dreamlight Valley update is bringing 100 bug fixes and performance and gameplay improvements to the open-world life simulation game.

We won’t rattle off the entire laundry list of bug fixes; with 100 items we’d then have to address and explain, that would simply take too long and be as uninteresting as an article could be. Instead, we’ll give you an overview of the biggest fixes coming to the game and how they’ll improve your Disney Dreamlight Valley experience.

Before we get into the laundry list, though, the new update does introduce some new elements into the game. We’ll see Scar added as a villager in the update, in addition to a new Star Path. This is essentially how far new content goes in terms of this update. The rest of the laundry list is purely to do with bug fixes.

The most notable of these is an improvement to how the game works on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. Disney has also improved upon the cloud-based save system to eliminate the issue where files conflict with one another when saved from different devices. Another improvement comes in the form of a more functional furniture edit mode when using a controller.

If you’ve been really frustrated by Donald Duck’s continuous temper tantrums, you’ll be happy to know that after the update, this will happen far less frequently. If you’ve been stuck on particular quests for a short while and are unable to progress, a new bug fix will let you get further in the game.

Lastly, if you’ve noticed that memory pieces and objects are spawning in places from which they cannot be retrieved, you’ll be overjoyed to know that this, too, will be a relic of the past after the update.

Check your Dreamlight Valley map

In any situation where you’re exploring a place with which you are not inherently familiar, you’ll likely need to rely rather heavily on a map. Disney Dreamlight Valley is no different. Here, your map is your greatest tool. In addition to the usual uses of a map, such as plotting a course or seeing where you’re going or where you’ve come from, you can also use this map to see where all of the characters within your valley are.

You’ll also see that when a character has a quest for you to undertake, they’ll have a little indicator on their map icon. Your map will even show you when your crops are ready to be harvested.

Always keep food nearby

As with any other game that incorporates some degree of realism, you’ll need to keep food handy if you want the best Disney Dreamlight Valley experience. Most adventure games supply you with some kind of inventory or storage system wherein you can keep all the various collectibles you find. In Disney Dreamlight Valley, you have at your disposal your backpack. While your backpack is the best place to temporarily store all manner of mining, fishing, and foraging loot, it’s also a good place to keep a few snacks for your travels.

You don’t have to fill your valuable backpack slots with food, but this will keep you from having to head home every so often to replenish your energy levels. Another bonus is that if you keep food handy so that you can further bolster and overfill your energy bar, you’ll unlock the Well Fed bonus, which will give you a boost when moving about, allowing you to do so with greater speed.

Spend time with your Dreamlight Valley villagers

Where is the fun in having a valley full of Disney characters if you can’t actually spend any time with them? Luckily, in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you can! All you need to do is walk up to one of your many villagers and hit the dialogue option that reads Let’s Hang Out! Immediately when you start hanging out with a specific character, you’ll see a pink star above their head accompanied by a little meter.

This meter increases with the frequency and duration with which you spend time with your various villagers. Over and above denoting the level of closeness and friendship that you share with each of your villagers, this meter also gives you the ability to earn XP. You’ll also get all sorts of cool rewards simply by spending time with your villagers. For instance, reaching friendship level 10 with Mickey Mouse will give you the Fantasia fountain.

Disney Dreamlight Valley to hit consoles and PC in 2023

Gameloft, creators of the famous Asphalt video game series, have made a pivotal move in the world of gaming. Partnering up with Disney and Pixar, the gaming powerhouse has recently announced a brand new Disney-themed life simulation adventure project called Disney Dreamlight Valley. You have quite a while to get into character before the launch, though; it’s only coming in 2023.

The new game is set to take place in Dreamlight Valley, the titular fantasy realm where a terrible event has occurred. Called The Forgetting, the mysterious event has left all of the Disney/ Pixar characters with not a single memory between them, and their once-peaceful village is now populated by an onslaught of strange plants called the Night Thorns. Life simulator, strange plants, locals with weird maladies, and a mysterious event: sound like the Sims 4 Strangerville with a longer waiting time.

During the course of the game, you’ll be able to create a character, build friendships with the local population of Disney/ Pixar characters, and hopefully help them all regain their memories. True to the life simulation genre, you’ll also be able to customize your house, various towns, and numerous locales you’ll know well if you have any familiarity with Disney or Pixar and be embroiled in the lives of all your favorite Disney characters.

Even more aspects of the game that have already been publicized, far ahead of the expected launch, reveal that you’ll be able to fish, cook and take part in a whole slew of other life simulation activities. True to form, the game will feature clothing items and accessories inspired by your favorite Disney characters and likely a whole lot more opportunities for merchandising.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is the intellectual child of Gameloft and is set to hit consoles and PC in 2023 as a free-to-play experience. According to the developers, you’ll be able to enjoy interacting with your favorite Disney characters on PS4 & 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Mac and PC via the Epic Games Store, Steam, Microsoft Store, and the App Store. You’ll likely also be able to play an early access release version of the game as early as this Summer.

The life simulation genre is one that appeals to many. If you can’t wait to try out Disney’s interpretation of a life simulation game, why not try The Sims 4? Whether you’re looking for lore, customizability, or the ability to create your own stories, homes, or communities, the Sims 4 has it all in spades.
