The new Rotation Assistant, introduced in patch 11.1.7 of World of Warcraft, is causing a stir among players, especially those who do not consider themselves elite. This feature allows users to follow recommendations to execute abilities with a single button, making the gaming experience easier and allowing them to focus more on the game’s content rather than the mechanics of their class. According to statistics from Warcraftlogs, non-elite players using the Rotation Assistant could see an increase in damage dealt between 2% and 60% compared to their own performance.
They want to be able to play with this new option
The game director, Morgan Day, has highlighted the positive response they have received about this tool, indicating that it is fulfilling the development intentions. However, this functionality also has its drawbacks, particularly for classes that require a deeper management of skills, which could result in a monotonous experience in the long run. Some players have expressed that, after using the Rotation Assistant, the gaming experience becomes repetitive and tiring.
In comparison, the Hekili addon remains the most used rotation assistant in the game, offering more accurate and up-to-date recommendations compared to the Rotation Assistant. Despite its simplicity, the Rotation Assistant may not be the best long-term option, as it can limit players’ opportunity to learn and master their classes properly.
Additionally, Day has mentioned that there are currently no plans for changes in the upcoming 11.2 update, beyond the updated rotations for some specializations. Players have expressed their interest in using the Rotation Assistant, although some may feel pressured to rely on it instead of striving to understand the complexities of their characters.
