The Return of Cascoscuro

Spaceballs 2 was recently announced and is scheduled to be released in 2027, almost 40 years after the original was released in 1987. The first installment, directed by Mel Brooks, became an instant classic by parodying not only Star Wars but also other iconic franchises like Star Trek and Transformers. The plot follows the mercenary Lone Star, played by Bill Pullman, and his alien sidekick Barf, who was played by John Candy, as they attempt to rescue Princess Vespa from the clutches of the Spaceballs.

The cast of the sequel will once again feature actors from the original film, including Bill Pullman, Rick Moranis, Daphne Zuniga, and Mel Brooks himself. Additionally, new cast members will join, such as Lewis Pullman, Bill Pullman’s son, in the role of Starburst, as well as Keke Palmer and Josh Gad. Meanwhile, uncertainty remains about Boyega’s future in Star Wars, as, unlike his co-star Daisy Ridley, there are no confirmed plans for his return as Finn in new installments.

With Spaceballs 2 finally on the way, fans of comedy and science fiction can expect another dose of academic humor and cultural references that have defined the franchise since its inception.
