The successful animated series Bluey, which has dominated Disney+ as the most-watched for two consecutive years, is preparing to take an unexpected turn in its production. Its creator, Joe Brumm, who has been instrumental in the global phenomenon of the series, has decided to step away from family content to explore new territory aimed at an adult audience. His upcoming project, titled Deano, moves away from the endearing canine world to present a narrative centered on human characters in a complex suburban environment.
Don’t worry, because Bluey will be back
Deano follows the story of an eight-year-old boy named Deano, whose charisma and mischief are evident despite his harsh reality. Living in a troubled neighborhood and in a nearly uninhabitable house, Deano faces his environment with contagious optimism and irreverent energy. Despite the difficulties surrounding him, his naivete and ability to connect with all kinds of people transform him into a beacon of empathy among his neighbors, from troubled teenagers to the local police chief.
One of the most important relationships in the series is the friendship between Deano and Kit, a shy boy whose life in the affluent sector of the city contrasts sharply with that of the protagonist. Kit, who is unaware of Deano’s struggles, is drawn to his bravery and his straightforward perspective on life. The series, which will consist of eight episodes in its first season, will be produced by Hooligan Animation, in collaboration with BBC Studios and 20th Television Animation.

With Deano, Brumm embarks on a new adventure that promises to explore themes of friendship and overcoming challenges in a harsher environment, expanding its repertoire beyond the success it has achieved with Bluey. Although details about the release date have not yet been announced, the series is expected to be available on the Hulu platform of Disney+
