Milly Alcock, known for her role as Rhaenyra Targaryen in ‘House of the Dragon’, has revealed that she “bullied” herself into accepting the role of Kara Zor-El in the upcoming Supergirl movie.
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Alcock confessed to feeling “terrified” after a year without work, which led her to question her professional future at the age of 22.
A role that could change his life
However, when the opportunity to join the DC universe presented itself, she decided to push herself to take on the challenge, despite having sworn not to participate in major franchises after her experience in ‘House of the Dragon’.
The ‘Supergirl’ movie, scheduled to be released in theaters on June 26, will involve a considerable level of acting skill, as five languages will be spoken, including Kryptonian, which will play a fundamental role in the plot.
Director Craig Gillespie has indicated that this linguistic requirement includes scenes with dialogues that require a lot of work from the cast, highlighting the need for high-caliber actors.
The story will follow Supergirl on a “murderous quest for revenge” as she faces the villain Krem from the Yellow Hills, played by Matthias Schoenaerts, and will be accompanied by Krypto, the superpowered dog.
Alcock has also addressed the criticism of the superhero genre from prominent figures like Martin Scorsese and Ridley Scott, defending diversity in filmmaking and highlighting that “not all movies are for everyone.”
With the adaptability of the superhero genre and the interpretations of the protagonists in sight, ‘Supergirl’ presents itself as an intriguing addition to the growing cinematic universe of DC, which continues to expand with future projects.
